A must-visit is the For Freedom Museum, which tells the powerful story of Knokke during the Second World War.
Sluis

Visit the Belfry, the only one in the Netherlands, and discover the rich history of this unique town.

Bruges
Stroll through romantic streets, along picturesque canals, and across charming bridges. Bruges is one of the most popular and romantic destinations in Belgium.
Its historic city centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, full of charm and history. Explore cosy squares, unique shops, and enjoy Belgian specialty beers in one of the many cafés.
Breskens
Breskens has a high number of sun hours per year. Not surprisingly, the main attraction of the seaside resort is its 4 kilometers of sandy beach. Stroll along the beach and past the octagonal lighthouse, take a look at the carvings of the emeritus pastor and sculptor Omer Gielliet in the Sint Barbarakerk or visit the Fisheries Museum. Every year in August Breskens is under the spell of the fishing festivals that attract thousands of tourists to the port town. Of course you must also taste Zeeland's delicacies such as fresh oysters, mussels and the Westerschelde lobster.
Vlissingen
Stroll along the longest boulevard in the Netherlands, enjoy a drink at the harbour, or explore the Nollebos nature and recreation area.
Visit attractions such as the Keizersbolwerk, the Zeeuws maritiem muZEEum, and Het Arsenaal. Vlissingen is also the birthplace of Michiel de Ruyter, whose statue overlooks the boulevard.
Between Breskens and Vlissingen, the Westerschelde Ferry runs regularly, offering an easy crossing for pedestrians and cyclists.
Nature & culture
Beach Cadzand-Bad
The boulevard and wide beach of Cadzand-Bad are just a 5-minute drive or 15-minute walk from the park. Here, you’ll find several beach pavilions and great spots to enjoy the sea, sun, and views.
Especially on warm days, it’s the perfect place to relax by the coast.
Dogs are welcome on the beach. From 1 May to 1 October between 10:00 and 18:00, dogs must be kept on a leash. Outside these times, dogs are allowed to run free. Please make sure to clean up after your dog.
Het Zwin Nature Reserve
Just across the Belgian border lies Het Zwin, a unique nature reserve and true bird paradise. This coastal lagoon features dunes, salt pans, and marshes and is known as the “international airport for birds”.
Migratory birds use the area as a resting place on their journey north or south. You can spot species such as storks, cormorants, and kestrels.
There are several walking and cycling routes with viewpoints for birdwatching. Waterproof shoes or boots are recommended.
Beach of Nieuwvliet
Nieuwvliet Beach is considered one of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the Netherlands – the perfect place to enjoy the sea, space, and tranquility, often a bit quieter than Cadzand-Bad.
There’s plenty to do, from swimming and surfing to paragliding, or simply relaxing while watching the sun set over the sea.
Take a seat at one of the beach pavilions, such as the well-known Strandpaviljoen 19, and enjoy food and drinks. From the Sky Lounge, you’ll have stunning views – especially at sunset.
West Zeeland Flanders
West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen is a unique part of Zeeland with a distinct Flemish influence. Until 1814, this region belonged to Flanders – something you can still feel in its relaxed atmosphere and Burgundian lifestyle.
The area offers the best of both worlds: rich cultural history, charming villages and towns, long sandy beaches, scenic cycling routes, and rugged nature.

Mill Nooitgedacht
Visit the windmill in Cadzand-Bad and discover a piece of history. The current mill dates back to 1989, but follows a tradition of over 500 years.
The mill is open for visits every Sunday afternoon and is a great stop during a cycling or walking trip.
Museum het Bolwerk
The border region of Zeeland and Flanders has a rich and fascinating history, often finding itself on the front line during international conflicts.
At Museum Het Bolwerk, you’ll discover how locals defended themselves over the centuries – from the Roman fortress in Aardenburg to the bunkers of the Second World War.
The focus lies on the Eighty Years’ War and the Staats-Spaanse Linies, featuring forts, ramparts, and fortified towns. Today, many of these historic sites have been transformed into beautiful nature areas, home to rare plants and wildlife.
Museum Belfort Sluis
In the charming centre of Sluis stands the Belfry, the only one of its kind in the Netherlands. The tower dates back to the 14th and 15th centuries.
Originally, a belfry was a medieval tower with bells used to signal important events such as fires, approaching enemies, or the announcement of laws. Later, it became part of the town hall.
Today, the belfry remains a symbol of civic pride, prestige, and history.
Museum Cultuurforum Aardenburg
In Zeeland’s youngest museum, located in one of its oldest towns, you can experience the Roman era in an engaging and interactive way with the whole family.
Discover that nearly 2,000 years ago, a Roman fortress once stood here. Remains of this fort and many Roman artefacts have been uncovered in Aardenburg.
The museum brings history to life, showing how these objects were used in places like the kitchen and bathhouse, and even lets you try Roman games yourself.
Right next to the museum is the Sint Baaf’s Church, the oldest church in Zeeland. Through a VR experience, you can travel back in time.

Monnikenwerve Ostrich Farm
Did you know that the ostrich is the largest bird in the world and can run up to 70 km/h?
During a guided tour, you’ll learn all about these impressive animals, their behaviour, and how they are cared for on the farm. Afterwards, visit the farm shop, where you’ll find unique products such as leather goods, liqueur, and skincare made from ostrich oil.

The museum features an impressive collection of objects from VOC ships, ranging from tableware and bottles to swords and coins – silent witnesses of life at sea.

Tour boat De Festijn
Step aboard De Festijn, a former mussel cutter, and enjoy a unique boat tour on the Westerschelde.
The tour departs from Breskens and takes approximately 1.5 hours. Along the way, you may spot seals on the sandbanks, and with a bit of luck even a harbour porpoise.

Kitesurfing in Cadzand and ’t Zwin
Kitesurfing is allowed at ’t Zwin near Strandpaviljoen De Zeemeeuw and in Cadzand near Strandpaviljoen Moio Beach, within designated areas.
These areas are marked on the water with yellow buoys, and kitesurfing is permitted between them.
Sportpaviljoen C-Zand
Golfclub De Brugse Vaart
Golfclub De Brugse Vaart features an 18-hole championship course of over 6 kilometres in length.
